Lectopia @ UWA - WebCT and Learning Management Systems

The majority of learning management systems (including WebCT and Blackboard) provide a means for students to access and retrieve an array of learning resources in an online format, including lecture notes and course information, as well as offering the opportunity to converse with other students via bulletin boards and chatrooms, and providing mechanisms for submitting work, taking tests and viewing course results.

WebCT at UWA

WebCT CE 6 is the main learning management system at UWA. It is an online framework for lecturers to locate their coursework and to manage communications with their students. From the student perspective, it is where they can manage their learning process.

Across the UWA campus, WebCT is instrumental in providing students with access to Lectopia lecture recordings. It has been established at UWA as one of a series of tools within the main WebCT interface.

Adding a Lectopia link to WebCT

Once the Lectopia recording schedule has been entered and confirmed by the Lectopia Service team, lecturers should add the Lectopia Link to the WebCT Homepage just as they do for other course content items.

Login to http://webct.uwa.edu.au
Select the relevant course
Select the Build tab
Select Course Content from the Course Tools menu
Choose Add Content Link -> Lectopia Link
Click Create Lectopia Link (ignore any links already listed)
Give the link a title; choose whether it should open in a new window
The Lectopia recording(s) accessible to the user logged in will then be shown; select the appropriate unit
If your unit is not shown in the list, click on the 'Request access' link. You will then need to select the unit you require access to. This information will be sent to the Lectopia Service team who will contact you to arrange access to the unit.
Select whether to show all recordings or an individual recording
If the Lectopia logo does not appear for the link, download and apply the logo that appears below
Test in Student View

Note: if you cannot login to WebCT CE 6, your unit may not have been setup yet. Please contact the WebCT office for further information.
