Using the Lectopia online interface
Listening To RecordingsThe Lectopia interface lists the lectures which have already been processed and are available for listening and viewing. As the semester progresses, more lectures are added and the latest lectures are at the top. Information that lecturers added via the Lectopia Staff Tool will be seen on this page. For example, if lecture outlines are added, they will appear here. There is no limit on the length of the outline.
To listen to the lectures, click on select bandwidth option for the player you wish to use and choose a format.
If there is a PowerPoint icon, it means that PowerPoint slides accompany the lecture. Clicking on it will show slides only. PowerPoint slides will also appear when listening to lectures, but because they are not sychronised with the audio recording and so will not automatically change from one to the next.
If there is a problem with a lecture recording, report it via the link provided.
After clicking on the lecture to listen to, a new window will pop up. This is the Lectopia Caster and it controls the audio playback, visualiser display and PowerPoint slides.
Lectopia CasterOn the top left of this window is the audio and visualiser playback.
- If a visualiser or screen capture option has not been selected for the lecture, the corner remains grey.
- If the visualiser or screen capture option has been booked, but not used, that portion of the screen becomes blue.
At the bottom left is the details about the lecture (including time, lecturer, unit).
The right hand side of the window is where the PowerPoint slides appear. Click on slide titles to move from one slide to another. The slides will then appear in the bottom right of the window. There is also an option to print out these slides.
Software RequirementsIn order to access the streamed recordings, the computer should be sound enabled and have a media player such as QuickTime, Real or Windows Media Player. Even though the computer might have these players, they have to be of the right version. It is possible to test whether the appropriate player is installed.
Refer to the Lectopia software requirements page for further information on the recommended software.
