Lectopia @ UWA - Booking Procedure

How units are booked for Lectopia recording will depend on the procedures of the discipline/school group. However, lecturers are encouraged to think ahead about what they need for their units and book appropriately. This includes specifying that a Lectopia-enabled venue is required when submitting timetable requests to the Venues Office.

Note that a "call-for-bookings" email is sent to all UWA staff about two months prior to the start of every semester, with a reminder being sent about one month prior.

For a Lectopia booking to be made, a booking form must be completed and mailed/faxed to the Lectopia team. Go the the UWA Lectopia Bookings page to download a booking form.

The form requires certain information related to the booking which includes:

lecturer name
lecture venues/day/time/duration
recording type (audio, screen capture, visualiser, etc.)
publication format (streaming, download, podcasting)
publication location (WebCT, unit web page, etc.)

Booking Checklist:

1. Ensure that the lecture venue is Lectopia-enabled (refer to Supported Venues page); if not, try to find an alternative venue or consider audio/video taping lectures for manual processing by the Lectopia team

2. Complete booking form and send it to the Lectopia team by the due date (usually two weeks prior to the start of semester) either to mailbag M206 Multimedia Centre or via fax on 6488 8750

3. Become familiar with the equipment in the venue to ensure that the recording process is not impeded by venue equipment difficulties

4. If other staff or guest lecturers take some of the lectures, make sure they know that lectures are being recorded and how to ensure that recordings are successful

5. If there are changes to any aspect of the original booking (such as requiring the use of the visualiser rather than screen capture, or a venue change), contact the Lectopia team at lectopia@uwa.edu.au
