I've connected my laptop to use PowerPoint but nothing
appears on the lecture screen – what should I do
next?
The following suggestions may be of assistance:
Before turning on your computer ensure you have taken the
following steps:
- Press the 'computer' button on the left hand side of the
lecturn touch panel
- Press the 'image' button on
- Ensure that you allow adequate time for the projector to
warm up. To check the projector status, stand at the lecturn
and look up at the projector suspended from the ceiling. If
you can see light shining from the lens, then the projector
is warming up. You can now switch on your computer.
If there is still no image appearing on the projection screen,
but there is an image on the monitor of your laptop, you may need
to toggle your monitor screen so that the image is mirrored on
the projection screen.
- For PCs - press the function keys F4 or F5 (it will have
a small icon of a computer screen on it). Some models may
also require you to press the Fn key simultaneously whilst
pressing F4 or F5. Press the key(s) slowly – you will
notice that it cycles through display modes, either bringing
up the display on your laptop, the presentation screen, or
both (known as ‘mirroring’).
- For Macintosh computers (OS X) - go to System
Preferences, Displays, and select ‘Detect
Displays’.
- If you are still experiencing problems, please contact
the AV Unit (ext. 2026) using the lecture theatre wall
phone.
